This particular World Series will go down in history as the series that was interrupted by a devastating 6.9 earthquake that did extensive damage ($5,000,000,000 in damages and 67 dead) in San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, Santa Cruz, and every other town in the bay area. It hit just before the first pitch of game 3, at Candlestick Park (former home of the Giants), causing the stadium to be evacuated and the game rescheduled. Not only was the quake one of the largest in recorded bay area history but also both teams in the series were from the bay area.
